Don't forget the Parkgate social this Thursday 28th August. Five pubs ( http://whatpub.com/search?q=parkgate+%28cheshire%29&t=t&p=1&lat=53.2968&lng=-3.08522&features=Pub%2CRealAle%2COpen ) to suit all tastes selling a varied range of beers. Excellent bus links - the 487 bus leaves Birkenhead at 19.40 via Higher Tranmere, Higher Bebington, Bebington Village, Thornton Hough and Neston arriving in Parkgate in time to meet at the Red Lion for 20.30. Return busses to Birkenhead at 21.30, 22.30 and 23.30.

The Saddle Club in Prenton is planning to hold a mini beer festival from 3rd to 5th October (or until the beer runs out) featuring mainly local beers. Although a club, the Saddle welcomes visitors and particularly card carrying CAMRA members and usually has at least one real ale available.

New real ale outlet in Parkgate:

The Elephant Lounge and Bar opened at the beginning of August with 2 hand pumps which in the first week were selling beers from Marstons and Jennings. The bar specialises in coffee and snacks and is sandwiched between the Red Lion and the Parkgate Takeaway and adds to the diverse styles of pub in Parkgate.
Cheshire Beer Festival:

The Cheshire Beer Festival will take place at Chester Racecourse on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th November. The event is being organised by all Cheshire CAMRA Branches including Wirral Branch and will have over 100 real ales and over 20 ciders and perries. The Champion Beer of Cheshire is being judged at the event. The Cider festival in Wetherspoon's pubs has been such a success that the Brass Balance in Birkenhead is planning to stock at least 4 ciders and perries for the foreseeable future. Remember, CAMRA members can now use their Wetherspoon's vouchers to get a discount on cider as well as real ales.
